Below is a collection of commonly asked questions. Feel free to contact us to answer any more questions you may have or to schedule a consultation.

How much of the sun’s UV rays do shade sails block?

Each material is rated for up 95 percent UVA and UVB. This varies based on colors and design. Lighter color fabric material tends to be on the lower end of the spectrum while darker colors such as black, blue and green are on the higher end.

Where can shade sails be installed?
We can install shade sails in just about any area. As long as we are able to dig a footing or install a wall bracket, we can install a shade. Places we typically install shade sails are around and over pools, patios, parking areas and playgrounds just to name a few.

How much do shade sails cost?
Complete installation of shade sails generally starst at $10 per square foot up to $20-25 for more complex shade sails and frame supported structures. We can provide a rough project cost (estimate range) over the phone with a simple explanation of the area, square footage, and height. If you are able to provide us with pictures of the area prior to our on-site visit, this will assist us in prepareing materials, design and estimated costs before hand. Can shade sails be taken down or installed temporarily?
Yes and No. Shade sails are typically installed in a permanent fashion. Most fabric shade structures are installed with tension (They are small scale tension fabric structures.) In order to maintain the fabric’s integrity in the elements and over time, very heavy steel supports are used to create tension in the fabric which creates the shade effects of the sails. When shade sails are installed in a “temporary fashion”, we typically see more wearing in the fabric from improper installation (lack of tension) and from the folding of the material over and over again. Although temporary structures can be installed, it is not recommended.

Can you attach it to my home?
We prefer not to connect sails to a home but we can. We prefer to install shade sails as self-supported structures with their own columns. The tension created by the sails pulling on a home every day may cause long term damage to the home’s structure.

What colors are shade sails offered in?

We offer 15 standard colors, but there is an array of 46 different colors to choose from.  Click here for more information on the shade cloth materials we offer.

Do we need a building permit?
Please check with your local municipal development services regarding building permits. As licensed contractors, we will not begin most projects without obtaining a permit.

Are you a licensed Contractor?
Yes. Our contractor license number is: Arizona ROC 296204.

How much wind can your shade structures withstand?

We design up to current building codes of 90 MPH wind gusts. Our structures can be designed to withstand up to 140 MPH wind gusts. We offer engineering services specializing in tension fabric structures.

How long does the shade cloth last?

The standard material and thread are warranted for 10 years against sun degradation. Shade sails designed and maintained properly should achieve this life span. We do offer shade cloths with up to 15 year warranties.

Do you do site visits or come to my home?

Yes, we prefer on-site consultations. Being on-site allows us to show you the best possibilities for your project including bringing fabric samples for you to see. You can call or send us pictures of your area as well. No location is off limits for us!

Do your consultations cost anything?

Initial on-site consultations and estimates are free. Conceptual shade designs start at $200.00*. If you decide to use us as your installer, we will credit the conceptual shade design fee towards your overall project costs. (*Please contact us to learn more about this service.)
